Zarya, launched on Nov. 20, 1998. The first piece of the International Space Station, also known as the Functional Cargo Block (FGB), built to provide a nucleus of orientation control, communications and electrical power while the station waited for its other elements. Two weeks later, on Dec. 4, NASA's space shuttle Endeavour launched Unity, the first U.S. piece of the complex, during the STS-88 mission..

Google co-founders Larry Page, and Sergey Brin met in 1995 at Stanford University. By 1996, the two were writing a program for a search engine in their friend Susan Wojcicki?s garage. They registered domain name Google.com and went on to launch the world?s largest search engine of all time, in 1998.

Today it?s taken for granted by most people, but Google has revolutionised the way in which the world access?s data today.

Also in 1998, IronCAD made its debut at the NDES show in Chicago. With its powerful Triball function, IronCAD users were able to manipulate, position and constrain 3D parts and assemblies in space. This was unique at the time and is still considered leading edge technology today.

Google enables people to access, reuse, and leverage data effectively around the globe and has now become the quickest and easiest way to access data.

There have always been other search engines trying to emulate it but Google?s ability to deliver fast, reliable results has ensured that they remain the default search engine globally.

Also in 1998, IronCAD made its debut at the NDES show in Chicago. Introducing the ability to bring in, reuse data from all mainstream CAD platforms, and the ability to manage and store part data in graphical catalogs. Helping IronCAD to become the go to tool for accessing and reusing third party design data.

Enabling people to find and share data effectively for 20 years
Quietly and efficiently leading the revolution for 20 years

The history of hybrid cars goes back to the year 1900, when legendary engineer Ferdinand Porsche built the Mixte, using individual wheel motors. But it wasn't until much later that batteries improved, lithium-ion and nickel-metal hydride battery technology allowed the first mass-produced hybrid?the Toyota Prius which started to hit the streets in 1998.

Also in 1998, IronCAD made its debut at the NDES show in Chicago. With its unique non-parametric approach to design it was seen as unusual; However, users quickly saw huge benefits and today most CAD vendors are working on similar technologies.

Leading the way, positioning parts in 3D space for 20 years
The assembly of this groundbreaking project required unique tools to position individual components and complete assemblies, accurately in space.

At the time, the initial take up was slow, however, as the early adopters started to see the benefits of the performance and low cost of ownership, soon others started to follow.

In 1998 Toyota changed the way people viewed electric car design, now every automaker either builds one, or plans to bring one to market.

Today, Hybrid and electric car sales represent 1.7% of the global car sales market, and this is predicted to rise to 5% over the next two years.

Whilst other companies have tried to follow in their footsteps, NASA have continued to lead the way and set the standard in space travel for over 20 years.

Later that month, we saw the first stage of the complex assembly in space of the International Space Station. Revolutionary at the time, and still awesome today, the ISS was transported to space and assembled in orbit, by teams from around the globe.
